POSITION SUMMARY:In this role, you’ll support the commercial success of these products by partnering closely with our sales team, delivering compelling demonstrations, providing user and technical training, and equipping customers with the knowledge and confidence to operate our systems effectively. You’ll be the technical voice that helps customers understand not just how the technology works, but why it matters.
The Applications Engineer (primarily focused on positioning, communications, and reference systems) is a great opportunity for a field service engineer who wants to make the transition to working onshore whilst keeping their practical skills up to date with some occasional field work.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develop customer procedures for bespoke operations and applications.
- Partner with the sales team to provide technical expertise during customer engagements, proposals, and solution design discussions.
- Deliver high‑impact product demonstrations—both in person and remotely that clearly communicate system capabilities, value, and differentiation – collecting feedback for sales and customer services.
- During demonstrations, collect photos, videos and impressive data sets to support the development of sales and marketing collateral.
- Conduct customer training sessions covering system operation, configuration, best practices, and regulatory considerations.
- Translate customer needs into actionable insights for product management and engineering teams.
- Provide post‑sales technical support to ensure smooth onboarding and long‑term customer satisfaction.
- Support rental customers with expert advice on installation, calibration, and operation.
- Carry out vessel installation and commissioning for sales as needed.
- Coordinate with sales when downtime is expected.
- Recommend appropriate product configurations and integration approaches.
- Represent the company’s technical position during pre‑sales discussions.
- Validate technical feasibility for customer use cases.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Marine, Systems, or related field) or equivalent technical experience.
- Several years of work experience in field service for positioning and communication systems.
- Experience supporting sales teams or working in a customer‑facing technical role.
- Background in ocean/maritime technology, navigation, GNSS, radar, situational awareness, or related domain.
- Pragmatic, self-driven, and solution oriented.
