Senior Stormwater Engineer – Texas
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to join our national drainage practice. The position is based in Houston and offers hybrid work arrangements; candidates must be within driving distance of the office. Under the direction of the established leadership team, you will work on exciting local, national, and international projects, expanding our Texas team to meet a strong backlog of work.
Key Responsibilities- Engineered design of roadway drainage and design‑build projects, including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements throughout the southeast.
- Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design: bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, pond design, and erosion & sedimentation control.
- Prepare construction plans and project displays.
- Generate cost estimates, technical reports, and memos.
- Support proposal development, presentations, and client interviews.
- Conduct quality‑control reviews of drainage calculations and plans.
- Utilize design software such as Micro Station, Inroads, ORD‑SUDA, AutoCAD Civil3D, Microsoft Excel, GIS, ICPR, HEC‑RAS, HY8, Flow Master, Pond Pack, StormCAD, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS 2D.
- Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines (roadway, structures, utilities, etc.).
- Direct and mentor junior engineers and manage a team of up to five engineers.
- Perform duties without requiring technical supervision.
- 8+ years of relevant TxDOT drainage design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
- Licensed Texas Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience on TxDOT projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of bridge hydraulics analysis.
- Understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations.
- Knowledge of stormwater design, including open‑channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
- Experience with permitting requirements for transportation drainage projects.
- Familiarity with stormwater treatment BMPs for linear transportation projects.
- Effective written and verbal communication, teamwork, and flexibility to perform field work.
- Initiative to tackle new projects and challenges regularly.

Salary$99,000 – $125,000 (based on experience, education, budget, and location).
