Your missionAs a Energetic Materials Engineer at Supernova, you will lead the development of our energetic materials technology. The role's responsibilities range from formulation and performance characterization to safety, with strong involvement in process development. We are seeking an experienced materials engineer who can build and lead a strong energetic materials R&D capability to bring our pioneering technology to the next level.
Key responsibilities:- Lead energetic materials R&D activities within multi-year USG and private programs.
- Lead the performance characterization of processed energetic material components.
- Formulate energetic material blends and binder systems, as well as simulant materials.
- Develop and maintain safety procedures for both energetic materials R&D and printing operations.
- Perform energetic material sensitivity testing and qualify materials for printing.
- Set up and maintain a cutting-edge materials lab.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on process R&D. Operate the latest printers, collaborating with hardware and process engineers to refine technology.
- Collaborate with leading U.S. research centers to expand the state-of-the-art in energetic materials science.
- Advanced degree (MSc, PhD preferred) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience formulating energetic materials.
- Experience with safety procedures and material sensitivity qualification.
- Experience in performance characterization of propellants and explosives.
- Experience setting up and managing an energetics-rated facility is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication abilities for both technical reporting and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Passion for innovation, testing, and troubleshooting, with strong attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Strong hands-on experience with a thoughtful and analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of defense compliance frameworks.
