Position: Senior Project Engineer (Water and Wastewater)

Airswift is partnering with a well‑established Houston‑based civil engineering firm to identify a SME level Project Engineer. This is a growth‑oriented opportunity for a civil engineer seeking to build strong technical depth and a long‑term career in municipal infrastructure.

The Project Engineer will support municipal public works projects across the full project lifecycle, from design development through construction support. The role reports directly to the Vice President and works closely with senior Professional Engineers and executive leadership, gaining exposure to a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects including water, wastewater, drainage, and underground utilities.

Key Responsibilities (Summary)
  • Support the design and delivery of municipal public works projects.
  • Prepare engineering plans, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with construction support activities, including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, municipal clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Support multiple projects across different infrastructure types and departments.
  • Build technical expertise and progressively take on greater responsibility.
Skill & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Min of 3-15 years of experience (flexible based on capability and fit).
  • Experience or exposure to municipal public works projects.
  • Interest in developing strong technical depth within public infrastructure.
  • FE/EIT certification preferred, or active progress toward PE licensure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

The firm offers a defined growth strategy and career pathway, with long‑term progression toward Technical engineering leadership or Client‑side leadership depending on individual strengths and interests.
