Project Engineer
The Project Engineer at Suncoast Post-Tension (a Keller company) serves as the primary technical liaison between local operations, engineering teams, and high-rise commercial contractors. This role bridges post-tension design preparation, shop drawing reviews, and field support, ensuring that complex unbonded and bonded post-tensioning projects—including elevated concrete frames, post-tensioned slabs, and structural reinforcing—are executed with structural integrity and operational efficiency. Combining technical rigor with active project management, the Project Engineer drives client satisfaction across all project lifecycle stages.
Operating within Keller's global standard of safety, quality, and performance, the Project Engineer plays a critical role in workload coordination, regional bidding, and on-site troubleshooting for active high-rise developments. Positioned as a proactive problem solver, the successful candidate will manage field placement drawing revisions, resolve critical jobsite field deviations, support central/regional estimating efforts, and nurture long-term relationships with structural engineers, general contractors, and concrete subcontractors.
- Client Relationship Management:
Actively contact, assist, and maintain technical relationships with general contractors, structural engineers of record, and concrete frame subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle. - Operations & Production Coordination:
Align regional post-tensioning workload demands with local plant Operations staff to ensure timely strand fabrication, tendering, hardware assembly, and on-time site deliveries. - Estimating & Bidding Support:
Assist central and regional estimating teams by performing take-offs, reviewing structural specs, and providing local market insights for post-tensioning and barrier cable service bids. - Shop Drawing Review & Detailing Coordination:
Review elevated structure post-tension shop drawings, pour layouts, tendon profiles, and field placement drawings using AutoCAD and Bluebeam prior to submittal. - Jobsite Technical & Field Support:
Provide prompt technical resolution for jobsite issues involving unbonded strand systems, encapsulation, pocket formers, hydraulic stress equipment, and anchorages. - Regional Technical Office Liaison:
Coordinate local engineering workload schedules and act as a day-to-day resource supporting local CAD detailers and technical office staff. - Post-Tension Optimization:
Evaluate structural designs to recommend value-engineering opportunities that optimize PT strand quantities, conventional rebar, and concrete pour sequencing. - Construction Conflict Resolution:
Collaborate with site supervisors to resolve interferences between post-tension tendons, MEP drop-outs, shear wall reinforcing, and Suncoast Stud Reinforcement Systems (SRS). - Field Stressing & Tendon Log Verification:
Review field stressing logs, elongation records, and wedge-seated calculations to ensure compliance with Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) standards and project specifications. - Cross-Functional Keller Operations Alignment:
Ensure project engineering workflows comply with wider Keller safety, operational, and quality risk management guidelines. - RFI & Change Order Management:
Technical processing of Requests for Information (RFIs), field modifications, and scope changes, updating structural details in collaboration with the design team. - Pre-Con & Coordination Meetings:
Represent Suncoast in high-rise pre-construction alignment meetings, pour-break planning, and technical progress reviews with structural project managers.
Background Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Experience)
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Structural Engineering, or Construction Engineering preferred; equivalent high-rise structural construction experience considered.
- High-Rise Construction Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of direct hands-on involvement with high-rise building construction projects (elevated concrete frames, cast-in-place multi-family, commercial towers).
- Concrete Systems Expertise: Proven experience working with concrete frames,…
