Design Engineer

Altamira Material Solutions seeks an Application Design Engineer to develop advanced metal matrix composite (MMC) components for demanding defense, industrial, and high performance markets. In this hands-on role, you will translate customer requirements into high quality designs, 3D models, and drawings, perform analyses to optimize strength, weight, and manufacturability, and collaborate closely with manufacturing to scale robust production processes. You will support prototype builds, testing, and design iterations while contributing to continuous improvement in design standards, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop MMC-based components for defense, industrial, and high tech applications
• Translate customer requirements into detailed engineering specifications and 3
• D models
• Perform simulations, tolerance analyses, and design reviews to optimize performance and manufacturability
• Collaborate with manufacturing to develop and refine production processes and tooling
• Support prototype builds, testing, data analysis, and design iterations
• Document designs, BOMs, and engineering changes in PLM/ERP systems
• Work with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions
• Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and design best practices
