Calpine Corporation seeks an Environmental Permitting Project Manager III to lead complex permitting for natural gas and geothermal power projects across the U.S. In this role, you will manage end-to-end environmental permitting, from strategy and schedules through application development, technical studies, and agency negotiations. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting siting, construction, and operations of large-scale generation assets.

Working in a data-driven, safety-focused, and collaborative culture, you will help advance cleaner energy, grid reliability, and sustainability initiatives in a dynamic utilities and energy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage environmental permitting for new and existing natural gas and geothermal power projects
  • Coordinate preparation of permit applications, technical studies, and environmental impact documentation
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and energy regulations
  • Liaise with regulators, consultants, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle
  • Support siting, construction, and operations with permitting and compliance guidance
  • Analyze environmental and operational data to support risk assessment and decision-making
  • Develop permitting strategies aligned with project schedules and corporate objectives
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise internal teams on implications
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external audiences
  • Promote a strong safety, integrity, and environmental stewardship culture across projects
