Audubon is currently seeking a Junior Piping Designer to join our team in our Houston, TX Office. The Junior Piping Designer will We’re seeking a Junior Piping Designer to support project teams with piping drawings and 3D modeling tasks. This is a development role where you’ll build core design skills while working under the direction of experienced designers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate a preliminary design.
- Assist with stress analysis, compiling construction specifications, equipment and material procurement, calculations, and estimates.
- Initiate drawings following instructions of engineer, designer, supervisor, specifications and/or sketches.
- Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of senior level designers and engineers.
- Assemble information and reference drawings from a variety of sources.
- Continually look for product improvements and cost reductions.
- Determine and initiate drawings/models based on optimal views relative to communicating construction desires as applicable.
- Assist with performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions.
- Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
- Review and assist in preparation of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Design components or portions of systems, and modify existing designs to develop or improve them.
- Utilize 2D or 3D computer aided design software to create layouts of Piping systems, devices and components, and create fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Maintain proper file management in accordance with company and industry standards.
- All employees are responsible for supporting Audubon Companies’ Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. This includes:
- Performing duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety
- Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
- Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions
- Following safe work practices and complying with applicable regulatory requirements
- Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting/design technology
- 0–3 years of design or drafting experience (internships/co-ops a plus)
- Exposure to CAD or 3D modeling software
- Basic understanding of piping components and engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
