We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Piping Designer to support industrial and petrochemical engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Smart Plant P&, Smart Plant 3D (SP3D), and Micro Station
, along with a strong understanding of piping systems, layouts, and design practices.
This role will work closely with engineering, design, and construction teams to develop safe, efficient, constructible, and cost-effective piping designs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and revise piping designs using Micro Station and Smart Plant 3D (SP3D).
- Create and update Smart Plant P&IDs and accurately interpret piping and process information.
- Prepare piping layouts, isometric drawings, bills of materials, and piping support details.
- Interpret P&IDs, piping specifications, engineering drawings, and design requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve piping design and modeling issues using Micro Station and Smart Plant P&.
- Coordinate with engineers and other designers to maintain design consistency and accuracy.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
- Participate in model reviews and provide input related to constructability and maintainability.
- Assist with resolving design challenges and field issues.
- Review design work and provide technical guidance to less experienced designers as needed.
- Support project and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting/design OR High School diploma with relevant experience.
- Approximately 3–5 years of piping design experience preferred.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Smart Plant P&.
- Proficiency with Smart Plant 3D (SP3D).
- Proficiency with Micro Station
. - Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, specifications, and fabrication methods.
- Ability to accurately interpret P&IDs and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, API
, and other applicable codes and standards. - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Petrochemical, chemical, refinery, or other industrial facility experience.
- Experience with laser scanning and point cloud integration.
- Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and piping support design.
- Understanding of construction practices and project lifecycle.
- Experience supporting field issue resolution and constructability reviews.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to meet project deadlines.
- Commitment to safe work practices and company policies.
- Flexibility to work overtime or travel as project/site conditions require.
- 40 hours per week.
- Monday–Thursday: 8 or 9 hours per day.
- Friday:
Half day depending on hours worked; remote. - PPE is not required unless visiting a site; PPE will be provided when required.
- Interview:
Onsite.
A hands‑on Piping Designer with strong Smart Plant P&, SP3D, and Micro Station experience who can independently troubleshoot design issues and support petrochemical/industrial piping projects.
