Lead Electrical Engineer

Powell Industries, a leader in tech solutions and software applications, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to design and oversee advanced electrical systems supporting complex IT and software infrastructure. You will lead the full lifecycle of electrical design for data centers, control systems, and high reliability equipment, including power distribution, protection, and integration with software and automation platforms. Partner with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, ensure code compliance and safety, and drive innovation in a fast-paced, inclusive culture with strong growth and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of electrical power and control systems supporting IT and software solutions
• Develop schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials
• Perform load, short-circuit, and coordination studies to ensure safety and reliability
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, IEC, and company standards and best practices
• Coordinate closely with software, IT, and product teams on system integration
• Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers on best practices
• Support project planning, scheduling, and technical risk management
• Collaborate with vendors and clients on technical requirements and specifications
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in electrical design processes
