Electrical Engineer – Power Generation & Cogeneration
Tecnicas Reunidas Houston LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Project Team in Houston, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on electrical engineering professional with strong experience in power generation, cogeneration, industrial power systems, and multidisciplinary project execution

This role is ideal for a Texas‑licensed Professional Engineer who can lead technical electrical deliverables, review and sign/seal engineering documents, support project development, and contribute to the execution of complex energy and industrial projects.

The position
As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the development and execution of power generation and cogeneration projects
, from early technical evaluation through detailed design, procurement support, and construction assistance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and define electrical scope for potential and active projects.
- Prepare and review electrical designs, calculations, specifications, layouts, and technical documentation.
- Select, size, and specify major electrical equipment, including transformers, generators, MV/LV switch gear, MCCs, UPS systems, emergency/standby power systems, and protection systems.
- Perform or coordinate power system studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and protective device coordination.
- Review, approve, sign, and seal professional electrical engineering documents in Texas.
- Coordinate electrical design activities with mechanical, process, civil, instrumentation, procurement, and project management teams.
- Ensure deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and internal quality expectations.
- Support equipment procurement, technical bid evaluations, vendor documentation review, and construction‑phase engineering support.
- Mentor early‑career engineers and contribute practical, production‑oriented solutions to project deliverables.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, sound engineering judgment, and experience delivering electrical systems for industrial, power, or EPC environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas
. - Ability to sign and seal electrical engineering documents in Texas
. - Minimum 5+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience
. - At least 3 years of experience in power generation, cogeneration, or industrial power systems
. - Strong experience reading, interpreting, and developing electrical engineering documentation.
- Hands‑on knowledge of electrical equipment selection, sizing, specification, and system integration.
- Experience with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, ANSI, API
, and utility interconnection requirements.
Strongly Preferred Experience
- Gas turbine, steam turbine, combined cycle, or reciprocating engine‑based cogeneration facilities.
- EPC, EPCM, engineering consulting, or large industrial project environments.
- ERCOT and utility interconnection experience.
- Experience supporting procurement, vendor coordination, field engineering, or construction support.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance within multidisciplinary teams.
