Client is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer for its Houston, TX team. This is a senior, commercial-facing role focused on INDUSTRIAL clients rather than municipal water/wastewater. The person will split time between high-level program/project management, business development, and technical engineering responsibilities with significant autonomy. Responsibilities include serving as the primary engineering contact for clients; identifying client needs and developing solutions; leading client meetings;
leading internal single- and multi-discipline engineering/design teams; serving as lead technical engineer as needed; reviewing water/wastewater calculations and design work; performing quality-control reviews; managing project budgets and schedules; overseeing wastewater permit applications; interfacing with vendors, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies; reviewing bid packages; developing proposals and new opportunities; and preparing proposals and work orders.
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; active PE license; 10+ years designing and managing water/wastewater projects from a COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL background (not municipal); 5+ years of business development and department-growth experience including client interaction and mentorship; experience preparing fee estimates, proposals, and statements of qualifications; knowledge of Texas environmental laws, regulations, compliance, and recordkeeping; strong communication/client presentation skills; and ability to travel to client sites/offices.
Full-time position based in Houston, TX.
Priority profile:
Senior PE with deep industrial/commercial water and wastewater experience who can operate as a client-facing technical leader and help grow the Texas practice. Strong candidates should demonstrate ownership of project budget, schedule, contractual obligations, client service, and quality standards; proposal/business development success; mentoring or team-growth experience; wastewater permitting and regulatory-agency interaction; and leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams. Municipal-only water/wastewater backgrounds should not be prioritized.
