Position Summary:
The Advanced SIS NDE Specialist is responsible for the technical implementation and operational support of Advanced Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) technologies and services, with a primary focus on advanced ultrasonic testing methods, including Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) Corrosion Mapping. The role involves performing advanced inspections, analyzing inspection data, supporting project execution, mentoring technicians, and providing technical expertise to clients.
The position requires frequent travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations, both domestically and occasionally internationally.
- Perform specialized NDE inspections using PAUT, AUT Corrosion Mapping, and other advanced ultrasonic testing techniques on piping, pressure vessels, pipelines, and structural components in onshore and offshore environments.
- Analyze, interpret, and compile inspection results while ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Prepare and execute inspection jobs in accordance with work instructions and specialist techniques.
- Support SIS Management with daily operational activities.
- Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and deliver customized NDE solutions.
- Prepare and present clear technical reports and inspection findings to clients.
- Maintain inspection equipment, oversee maintenance activities, and manage QHSE documentation.
- Continue professional development through training and qualification in additional conventional and advanced NDE methods.
- Assist in the training, mentoring, and competency assessment of associate technicians.
- Conduct advanced ultrasonic examinations on pipelines, plant piping systems, offshore topside systems, and subsea piping systems.
- Maintain test sample logs and evaluate requirements for test sample acquisition.
- Maintain familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of certified inspection methods and techniques.
- Support the Technical Management team in maintaining procedures, developing inspection techniques, and managing quality control activities.
- Assist with business development initiatives, including technical bulletins, information sheets, workshops, open days, and industry conferences.
- Stay informed about technical developments within the organization and the NDE industry.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and HSE&Q requirements.
- Mentor and support Level I and Level II NDE technicians.
- Ensure adherence to client requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations as required.
- Work in challenging environments, including confined spaces, elevated locations, and adverse weather conditions.
- Perform additional duties as required to support organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- SNT-TC-1A compliant classroom training hours in:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
- Minimum three (3) years of experience applying advanced ultrasonic testing methods.
- Minimum Level II certification in UT and PAUT in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A or CP-189.
- Ability to successfully complete company certification examinations.
- Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain:
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Safe Gulf Training
- Rope Access Level 1 certification
- Complete knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with industry-standard and manufacturer-specific advanced NDE software.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Compliance with company and client health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Desired
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience in multiple industries, including oil and gas, power generation, pipelines, new construction, and in-service inspection.
- International project experience.
- SPRAT or IRATA Rope Access certification.
- Third-party UT certifications such as ACCP, PCN, CSWIP, EPRI, API QUTE, or equivalent.
- Experience with ultrasonic equipment and software platforms including Zetec/Ultra Vision, Olympus/Tomo View, and Pipe Wizard AUT systems.
- Additional SNT-TC-1A classroom training in MT, PT, and ET methods.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
