Purpose of the position
Leading a team of SMT engineers and technicians to resolve production issue, perform predictive and preventative maintenance/analysis to proactively reduce potential machine issues, optimize production process, improve product quality, and ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role requires extensive end-to-end SMT equipment knowledge and experience in order to solve machine downtime and issues in a timely manner. The role involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, resolve technical challenges, and align manufacturing strategies with organizational goals.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
1. Resolve Production Issues
- Become the SME for all SMT equipment-related questions and concerns.
- Being able to provide technical guidance for RCA/FACA related to production equipment.
- Being able to manage the allocated engineering resources in order to support production and maintenance activities.
- Manage weekly equipment maintenance activities (Resource, Supplies, etc)
- Provide guidance on maintenance activities to ensure preventative maintenance are done according to company's policies and SOPs.
- Collaborate with Project team and TPMs to define requirements, technical specs, deliverables, and timelines via cross-functional collaboration.
- Identify risks (technical/production/supply chain) and develop mitigation strategies.
- Analyze production bottlenecks and propose improvements (e.g., automation, process reengineering).
- Identify and/or Implement Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to reduce defects and costs.
- Allocate resources (human/material/equipment) to meet production/project goal.
- Team management and development thru projects/task assigments.
- Lead root-cause analysis (e.g., 8D method, FACA, FMEA etc) for defects and drive corrective actions.
- Address customer feedback/ pass down and coordinate recalls or improvements as needed.
- Evaluate new technologies (equipment/materials/processes) for feasibility and impact.
- Collaborate with relevant customer's counterpart (TPM/ Ops/ NPO/ AME) for R&D and innovation.
1. Bachelor's Degree (Can be substituted by proven equivalent work experience)
- Engineering disciplines (preferred):
Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation, Engineering Technology, etc.
1. Equipment
Experience:
Must be experienced in SMT Equipment including but not limited to:
- Solder Paste Printer - GKG
- SPI/AOI
- Holly, TRI, JET - PnP
- Fuji, Universal - Reflow Oven
- Ersa, HB, JT - Laser Marking/Cutting Machine
- Han's, Hymson - Mechanical/Laser Depanel
- Aurotek, Martin trier - Conveyors, Buffers, other ancillary equipments
- Electronics Manufacturing:
At least 3-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing (e.g., production line upgrades, technology transfers). - Process Knowledge:
Familiarity with critical stages of manufacturing: assembly, testing, packaging.
- Project Leadership:
Led or actively participated in 2-3+ technical projects with clear outcomes (e.g., efficiency improvements, cost reduction, process standardization). - Risk Management:
