The Design Engineer III will work under general supervision to perform a variety of engineering activities related to the design, development, testing, and support of industrial products and systems. This position will also contribute to prototype development and research & development initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical product design experience and be comfortable working across CAD, FEA, fluid dynamics, drafting, and product development.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and test products to meet customer and technical requirements.
- Create, review, and maintain production drawings for newly developed products.
- Provide technical and product support to both internal and external customers.
- Plan, coordinate, and track product development projects.
- Maintain customer communications and update technical documentation.
- Provide additional engineering and design drawing support as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development process.
- Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.
- Adapt to changing priorities and support other engineering initiatives as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited four-year institution.
- 5+ years of professional product design experience.
- Strong experience with 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and fluid dynamics modeling.
- Proficiency in 2D drafting and GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and other standard engineering software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of DC electrical circuits, wiring, harnesses and related components.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
- 1+ years of experience designing gate, butterfly or ball valves.
- Strong knowledge of corrosion management.
- Understanding of internal combustion engine operating principles and requirements.
- Strong thermodynamics knowledge.
- Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic valve actuation design.
- Familiarity with DFMEA and PPAP processes.
