The selected CAD Technician will be a key addition to the team for heavy civil and heavy industrial projects in the gulf region. This position is primarily in the office, with some occasional regional travel.
Key Responsibilities- Support heavy civil and heavy industrial construction operations through a combination of construction surveying, field layout, CAD/modeling, quantity takeoff, and machine control data management.
- Generate earthwork models and utilize Civil 3D tools to perform quantity calculations and prepare “heat maps” depicting areas of deep cut and/or fill.
- Produce improvement plans, exhibits and drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, working under the direction of a Licensed Civil Engineer.
- Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
- Grading, Drainage and Utility design
- Draft plan and profile views of improvement plans, such as street, storm drain, and other underground improvements, using smart labels, and other methods.
- Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages, according to required mediums and specifications for reproduction using blueprinting, photography, or other duplicating methods.
- 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
- HS Diploma or GED
- Prior experience with land development projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to prepare conceptual designs utilizing a combination or Google Earth, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D as appropriate
- Ability to calculate earthwork, grading, paving, utility, and concrete-related quantity takeoffs
Strong math and problem-solving skills - Understand the order of work and method of presentation, based on different drafting requirements for each agency
- Prior survey experience is a PLUS
- Salary $70k-115k (based on experience and certifications)
