Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Our client is a technology company focused on data center cooling and water treatment from chip to chiller. They are supported by renowned venture capital firms such as Founders Fund, Saga Ventures, Undeterred Capital, and IA Fund.
Due to company growth, they are seeking a Chemical Service Technician to work at customers’ data centers in Houston, Dallas, and other surrounding areas in Texas and the Gulf Coast. The Technician is responsible for solving customer water treatment concerns, executing field lab work, and troubleshooting water treatment and control equipment at customers’ data center field sites.
The sites you will support will be in various stages of construction. The projects will include initial fill/flush, ongoing service, and retrofits.
This role will be responsible for onsite field support and service, working in tandem with company field staff, customers, other vendors, and R&D staff.
Responsibilities:- Support water treatment, flushing, and passivation-related construction and installation projects at data centers in TX, LA, and the Gulf Coast.
- Solve customer water treatment concerns, perform water treatment lab work, commission new piping and system assets, and troubleshoot water treatment and control equipment at customer sites.
- Treat closed-loop systems, open-loop systems, and other combinations of water and fluid treatment.
- Perform detailed water testing and analyses at customer sites.
- Help deliver customer KPIs and promote solutions including proprietary chemical blends, equipment, and monitoring technology.
- Provide a consultative approach to ensure that customer needs are being met, thinking and acting as the asset owner rather than as a vendor.
- Overnight travel and field work are required.
- A safe driving record is required.
Qualifications:
- BS in a technical degree or engineering field (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental) or Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.).
- 1+ years of experience as a water treatment service technician.
- Familiarity with field water treatment testing (DR900, Myron, ATP).
- Mechanical aptitude; HVAC or plumbing experience is helpful.
- Proficiency with lab procedures, water equipment, and chemistry.
- Ability to provide succinct presentations and recommendations to internal and external teams.
Salary: $70K - $90K, plus on-site field per diem and field bonus.
