Reporting to the Manager, Engineering and Design, the Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for being a technical and project lead on the design and execution of overhead T&D line projects. This role combines technical leadership and project management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with utility standards and regulatory requirements. The Senior Project Engineer will serve as a primary technical resource for Sales Engineers, Project Engineers, and/or Sales Managers, and ensure high-quality deliverables that support safe and reliable energy delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project & Technical Leadership
  • Design and review designs of overhead T&D line projects (4kV–345kV).
  • Provide technical oversight/guidance to engineering/design teams, ensuring adherence to industry codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for utility clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Line Design & Engineering
  • Experience with structural calculations, including sag-tension analysis, pole/structure loading, and clearance verification us PLS Pole and PLS CADD Software.
  • Ensure compliance with NESC, RUS, IEEE, ASCE, and utility-specific standards (knowledge of CSA a plus).
  • Review and approve drawings, models, and specifications.
Project Execution & Collaboration
  • Manage multiple projects from concept through construction support.
  • Collaborate with clients, Sales Engineers, Sales Managers, and Operations teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Consistently communicate project progress.
Other
  • Promote safety and risk management in all project phases.
  • Support audits, inspections, and client reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Support a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • about 8+ years of experience in T&D line design.
  • Strong knowledge of T&D design standards (NESC, RUS, IEEE, ASCE, state and utility-specific standards; CSA is a plus).
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and related design tools (experience with SPIDA, Pole Foreman, O-Calc) .
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license a plus
  • Experience with large-scale capital programs and asset lifecycle management preferred (PMP Certification or equivalent project training a bonus).
  • Ability to solve problems, propose conceptual solutions, and quantify risks.
  • Proven communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work well in teams.
  • Ability to interface with customer technical contacts to answer customer inquiries on design and field applications.
