Key Responsibilities
• Create and maintain electrical control panel drawings using SkyCAD Electrical
• Develop: o Electrical schematics o Control wiring diagrams o Panel layouts o Terminal block diagrams o I/O drawings o Bills of materials (BOMs) o Wire and component identification
• Design control panels used in HVAC and Building Automation System (BAS) applications
• Select and properly document components including relays, transformers, power supplies, terminal blocks, circuit protection, controllers, VFD interfaces, starters, and other control devices
• Review project specifications, submittals, equipment information, sequences of operation, and control requirements
• Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Service, and Panel Shop personnel to ensure designs meet project requirements
• Work closely with panel shop technicians to resolve design questions during fabrication and wiring
• Revise drawings based on project changes, field conditions, and redlines
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions and project documentation
• Assist with standardizing panel designs, symbols, templates, and drawing practices within SkyCAD
• Support the development of reusable drawing standards and component libraries to improve design efficiency
• Ensure drawings support fabrication in accordance with applicable UL 508A requirements and company standards
• Produce accurate final/as-built documentation when required Qualifications
• Experience with SkyCAD Electrical strongly preferred
• Experience designing or drafting electrical control panels
• Understanding of electrical schematics and control wiring
• Familiarity with HVAC equipment and control systems
• Knowledge of relays, contractors, transformers, terminal blocks, power supplies, circuit protection, controllers, VFDs, and similar control components
• Ability to read electrical drawings, mechanical plans, specifications, and equipment submittals
• Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with designers, engineers, sales personnel, technicians, and panel builders
Preferred Experience
• UL 508A panel design or fabrication experience
• HVAC controls or Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience
• Experience designing panels for: o Air handling units o Pumps o Cooling towers o Chillers o VFD applications o Mechanical equipment control
• Experience working directly with a UL-listed industrial control panel shop
• Experience developing BOMs and maintaining electrical component libraries
• Previous hands-on panel building or control wiring experience is a plus PI
