Junior Electrical Engineer – Automation Position Overview

Join CAM Integrated Solutions’ engineering team in Houston as a Junior Electrical Engineer. Underthe mentorship of senior engineers, you'll support design and execution of electrical projects—low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems—within sectors like oil & gas, utilities, and clean energy.

Company Overview: CAM offers EPCM services—from concept through construction—for onshore energy infrastructure, including engineering, automation & controls, fabrication, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing LV and MV electrical power systems, including drafting one-line diagrams and conducting load studies.
  • Learn to use industry-standard software tools such as ETAP and SKM.
  • Support documentation efforts: create IFC (Issued for Construction) packages, vendor documentation, and technical deliverables under guidance.
  • Aid in site support functions, including field visits, design reviews, PHA/HAZOP participation, and client communications.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to ensure quality, code compliance (e.g., NEC, NESC, API, IEEE), and schedule adherence.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical issues and coordinate with vendors and designers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Contribute to continuing education and professional development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of electrical systems and standards (NEC, NESC, NFPA, API, IEEE).
  • Familiarity with—or strong interest in learning—ETAP and SKM software.
  • Excellent communication skills and aptitude for team collaboration.
  • Basic technical documentation and drafting skills.
  • Local to Houston area and eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Experience / Attributes

(Not required, but an advantage)

  • Internships or academic experience in related industries (oil & gas, utilities, energy).
  • Exposure to field commissioning, site inspections, or control room environments.
  • Familiarity with project sequencing, scheduling, or deliverable tracking.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) track or interest in pursuing licensure in the future.
Why This Role?

You'll gain hands-on experience across engineering, design, field work, and client interaction within a dynamic firm known for delivering integrated energy solutions. CAM emphasizes career growth and favorites a lean, flexible, and team-oriented environment, making it ideal to develop both technically and professionally early in your career.
