Halliburton’s Research & Development engineers are responsible for designing the thousands of patented tools and technologies applied in field locations each day all over the world.
These positions are located in Houston, TX. Our intern program philosophy is to “recruit once, hire twice” with the hope to hire interns back into full-time or return internship roles.
The internship program assignments are 10-14 weeks in duration and are full-time internships on-site. The summer 2027 internship is expected to begin on May 23, 2027.
Under the guidance of a mechanical engineering lead, you’ll be responsible for:- Participate in the development and sustaining of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
- Perform tasks such as hardware design, specification development, drafting and documentation.
- Plan and participate in hardware assembly and verification testing,
- troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- provide periodic reports on planned and completed development activities, along with estimated completion dates and prompt reporting of any issues.
- Comply with our HSE and Service Quality requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent understanding of understanding of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and hydro-mechanical systems.
- knowledgeable in engineering design calculations pertaining to mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal loads.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot test systems, along with exposure to data analysis techniques.
- BS is Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Reliable transportation to and from work daily is required.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States both now and in the future;

Qualifications:
- Self-starters with leadership capabilities, innovative ideas, and the ability to express ideas to team members.
- Prior intern, co-op, or research experience
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineer is preferred.
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Strong communication & presentation skills

** Salary Range:** $26/hour for students pursuing aBachelor’sdegree; $31/hour for students pursuing aMaster’sdegree; $36/hour for students pursuing a PhD
