We're looking for a Senior Power Engineer with a strong electrical engineering background to support the development, evaluation, and execution of power generation projects, including thermal generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and other energy infrastructure.
The role will focus on feasibility studies, technology evaluations, interconnection, design reviews, technical specifications, equipment selection, vendor evaluations, and project execution support across front-of-the-meter, behind-the-meter, and islanded applications.
Key Responsibilities- Support electrical system design, including single-line diagrams, auxiliary power systems, MV/HV distribution, and equipment layouts.
- Evaluate and select major electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switch gear, motor control centers, protective relays, and electrical balance-of-plant systems.
- Review load flow, short-circuit, grounding, protection coordination, arc flash, dynamic stability, and interconnection studies.
- Support grid interconnection activities, including review of utility requirements, consultant studies, and interconnection agreements.
- Review substation, switchyard, protection and control, metering, SCADA, and communications designs.
- Develop and review technical specifications and scopes of work for OEMs, EPC contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection.
- Provide engineering support throughout feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
- Participate in factory and site acceptance testing, energization planning, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers and project stakeholders on plant integration, equipment interfaces, controls, and operational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in power generation, utility infrastructure, industrial power systems, or related energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Experience with substations, switchyards, generators, transformers, switch gear, protection systems, and electrical balance-of-plant equipment.
- Experience reviewing electrical studies and engineering deliverables for utility-scale projects.
- Knowledge of applicable IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, NESC, and utility requirements.
- Experience supporting multiple project lifecycle stages, from development and engineering through procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with BESS, microgrids, renewable integration, or hybrid generation facilities.
- Experience with load and generation interconnection processes.
- Familiarity with PSS E, PSLF, ETAP, Easy Power, PSCAD, SKM, ASPEN, or similar software.
- Working knowledge of thermal power plant systems and major mechanical equipment.
