COMPANY PROFILE
Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (“DGOC”) is a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Diversified Energy Company PLC, a US‑based company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE) under the ticker symbol “DEC”. Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas & oil wells and midstream pipelines and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States.
Headquartered in Birmingham, AL, our field operations are located throughout the Appalachian Basin in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In 2021, Diversified announced our expansion into our Central Regional Focus Area, which includes producing areas within Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
The Geology Intern will support Diversified’s Subsurface team by evaluating wellbore utilization opportunities across Texas and New Mexico. The intern will focus on identifying remaining reservoir potential, assessing recompletion and uplift opportunities, and helping expand the company’s inventory of wells with remaining utility—whether through continued production, recompletion, injection, disposal, or gas storage.
This role is ideal for a geology student interested in reservoir characterization, wellbore optimization, and applied geoscience in mature fields. The intern will gain hands‑on experience with subsurface mapping, wellbore analysis, and multidisciplinary collaboration with reservoir engineers and data teams.
Wellbore Utilization Project (Primary Internship Focus)- Evaluate wells with
remaining uplift potential
or
remaining reservoir utility
, including:- Recompletion/refrac opportunities in the producing zone
- Conversions to injection, disposal, or gas storage wells
- Utility in shallower zones where applicable
- Maintain and continually update an
inventory of wells
categorized by potential future use. - Work with reservoir engineers and production engineers to track wells with:
- Remaining reserves
- Recompletion or workover potential
- Plug‑and‑play suitability for injection or storage
- Economic factors that impact the utilization decision
- Map reservoirs across Texas and New Mexico to determine:
- Structural and strati graphic framework
- Reservoir continuity and thickness
- Remaining hydrocarbons in place
- Create structure, isopach, net pay, and reservoir quality maps using log and production data.
- Identify
analog production
to support recompletion and economic uplift analysis.
- Estimate remaining hydrocarbon volumes‑in‑place using decline data, log data, and analog comparisons.
- Assist engineers by compiling subsurface inputs for recompletion economics (type curves, analogs, depletion mapping).
- Map
depleted formations
to determine suitability for:- Gas storage
- Conversion to Class II injection or disposal
- Evaluate log data, pressure histories, and production trends to assess containment and injectivity.
- Organize, clean, and maintain
Petra projects
for assigned fields. - Ensure well data, log curves, tops, surveys, and production histories are accurate and complete.
- Assist in building project templates and subsurface data workflows used by the geology team.
- Work closely with:
- Reservoir Engineers
(reservoir potential assessments) - Production Engineers
(recompletions economic evaluations) - Regulatory
(permitting requirements for intended wellbore use) - Land
(determine ownership is proposed formations)
- Reservoir Engineers
- Participate in team reviews, utilization planning discussions, and field…
