Houston Broadway Theatre – 2026 Summer Season

Houston Broadway Theatre (HBT) seeks an experienced Production Manager to oversee its 2026 Summer Season, accepting both local and non-local applications. For candidates outside the Houston area, travel and housing will be covered for the contract term.
The 2026 Summer Season will be executed with union crews under the IATSE Local 51 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Production Manager will oversee full implementation of the CBA across planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and on‑site operations.

Contract concludes approximately two weeks after final performance (on or about August 31, 2026).
Pre‑production work is primarily virtual, with a minimum of one weekly Zoom check‑in. Full‑time, in‑person presence is required during load‑ins, technical rehearsals, previews, openings, and load‑outs as outlined above.
Responsibilities- Organize and lead weekly production meetings
- Coordinate with designers, department heads, venues, and General Management
- Oversee production budgets, schedules, and advance planning for rehearsals, load‑ins, and technical periods
- Maintain consistent communication with Producer and key stakeholders
- Ensure full compliance with the Houston Broadway Theatre 2025‑2026 IATSE Local 51 Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Serve as primary liaison to the IATSE Steward and Business Representative
- Monitor and enforce crew call minimums, overtime and premium pay, meal and rest rules, and jurisdictional staffing requirements
- Oversee labor budgeting, payroll coordination, and benefit contributions
- Proactively address and resolve labor matters before escalation
- Maintain workplace health and safety standards
- Provide full‑time, in‑person leadership during load‑ins, technical rehearsals, previews, openings, and load‑outs
- Significant production management experience in professional theatre and large scale Musical Theater productions
- Demonstrated experience working with IATSE contracts
- Strong budget oversight and scheduling skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage complex, multi‑show environments
Total fee: $25,000 per season
This is an independent contractor position. The Production Manager is responsible for all applicable taxes.
