OVERVIEW

JOB STATEMENT

Under the supervision of the Scenic Charge Artist Overhire Scenic Artists is responsible for the completion of painting all scenic elements for productions.

JOB DUTIES
  • Assist the Charge Scenic Artist in painting/finishing of scenery as specified in the design.
  • Assist in the daily maintenance and clean‑up of the shop and paint areas.
  • Be an active participant in the construction, load‑in, and strike of all productions.
  • Touch‑up and maintenance of scenery during the load‑in process and during the course of the run of the show, as required.
  • Additional related duties as assigned by the Charge Scenic Artist.
REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE)
  • Knowledge of painting techniques and color mixing.
  • Ability to read and interpret working drawings and renderings.
  • Preferred knowledge with safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, energized and quickly changing environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Detail oriented, able to prioritize efficiently and multi‑task.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
  • Ability to regularly move and lift 30‑50 lbs.
  • Regular ladder and MEWP (Personnel Lifts) work at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Typical hours are during the day, but the position requires flexibility to be available for weekend, holidays, and evening work hours as needed.
