A leading global energy trading firm is seeking a Risk Control Analyst to join its Houston-based team. This role sits within the middle office and supports power trading activities across North American markets. • Lead risk oversight for power trading portfolios, including open position monitoring
  , valuation controls, and mark‑to‑market (MTM) assessments
• Deliver daily analysis of key metrics such as P&L,
  VaR
  , and exposure across trading books
• Validate deals and pricing within the trading system, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal risk policies
• Support reporting to senior management, including trading results and position summaries
• Collaborate with traders to identify and explain portfolio risk drivers
• Maintain and enhance risk models, test new calculations, and propose improvements to valuation accuracy
• Evaluate forward price movements and assess model assumptions against market fundamentals

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
• Strong understanding of risk management methodologies, MTM, VaR, and exposure metrics
• Experience in North American power markets
  , particularly ERCOT
  , PJM
  , and CAISO
• Familiarity with power pricing structures and external price validation
• Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Python, or Alteryx
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines
• Flexible with working hours to support trading operations
