Volunteer: Finance Committee Member - Empowerment Plus CLG

Overview

As a member of the Finance Subcommittee, you will support the Board by providing independent financial oversight, scrutiny, and advice. The subcommittee is chaired by a Board member and works closely with the CEO and senior leadership team.

• Supporting Board oversight of financial performance and sustainability
• Reviewing management accounts, budgets, and financial forecasts
• Advising on financial controls, financial risk, and assurance
• Supporting the organisation as it diversifies income streams
• Providing informed challenge and independent financial perspective
• This is an advisory role and does not involve operational financial management.

We are seeking individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Finance, accounting, audit, or financial governance
• Charity, public sector, or regulated financial environments (desirable)
• Budgeting, financial controls, and financial risk management
• Financial planning and sustainability

• Strong financial literacy and analytical capability
• Sound judgement and attention to detail
• The ability to challenge constructively and proportionately
• An interest in supporting a purpose-driven organisation

• One online meeting every 4–6 weeks
• Preparation and review of papers in advance of meetings
• Occasional ad-hoc input as required

• Apply your financial expertise where it genuinely matters
• Support the financial sustainability of services for vulnerable children and families
• Contribute during a critical period of stabilisation and growth
• Engage at a strategic level without excessive time commitment
