Position Purpose

The Mortgage Servicing Associate supports Opus CMC’s Servicing Review practice by performing detailed analysis of servicing data, reports, and loan level documentation. This role requires strong mortgage servicing experience and advanced Excel capabilities, including building, running, and interpreting complex reports. The Mortgage Servicing Associate ensures servicing activity is accurate, compliant, and aligned with investor, agency, and regulatory requirements.

This position plays a critical role in Opus’s Third Party Review (TPR) framework by delivering high quality servicing analytics, operational insights, and support during client engagements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed reviews of servicing data, loan histories, escrow accounts, payment applications, loss mitigation activity, ARM adjustments, and default/collections actions.
  • Build, run, and maintain complex Excel reports, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, macros, and multi‑tab workbooks used for portfolio‑level analysis.
  • Extract and manipulate large datasets from client portals, servicing systems, and investor platforms.
  • Validate servicing activity for compliance with investor guidelines, federal/state regulations, and servicing agreements.
  • Identify discrepancies, trends, root causes, and potential servicing defects.
  • Support operational assessments related to servicing transfers, payment processing, escrow administration, investor reporting, and loss mitigation workflows.
  • Prepare clear, concise findings and deliverables for internal teams and clients.
  • Participate in client calls as needed to explain data methodologies and servicing findings.
  • Maintain accuracy, completeness, and quality standards in a fast‑paced TPR environment.

Position Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent plus advanced secretarial training required.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of mortgage servicing experience in areas such as escrow, payment processing, default servicing, investor reporting, loss mitigation, or servicing analytics.
  • Advanced Excel expertise, including the ability to build reporting templates, perform data validation, and analyze large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage servicing standards, investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/VA), and RESPA servicing requirements.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently while meeting deadlines without close supervision.
  • Ability to identify servicing defects and articulate findings clearly.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and ability to conduct independent and detailed research to identify and gather relevant compliance data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Third‑Party Review, mortgage risk management, quality control, due diligence, or servicing audits.
  • Familiarity with agency waterfalls, loss mitigation decisioning rules, and default timelines.
  • Experience handling large data exports and normalizing datasets for review.
  • Ability to support multiple concurrent client project.
  • Experience working with servicing systems.
