We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role is pivotal in managing accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining accurate financial records. As this is a Contract to permanent position, it offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your abilities and grow within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end collections accounts receivable process, including invoice creation.
- Utilize and navigate multiple customer portals to track payments and resolve issues efficiently.
- Follow up on disputes, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer interaction.
- Post cash payments accurately and promptly, maintaining up-to-date records.
- Work collaboratively with the tax manager to handle sales and use tax certificates and upload data into the Vertex system.
- Handle a high volume of transactions, processing 1,500 to 2,000 invoices monthly.
- Serve as a proactive and self-motivated team member, taking initiative to meet organizational goals.
- Support external collections efforts while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures throughout the collections process.
Requirements - Proven experience in collections, including both commercial and consumer accounts.
- Proficiency in using customer portals for payment tracking and issue resolution.
- Strong skills in cash posting and accounts receivable processes.
- Excellent communication and customer interaction abilities.
- Familiarity with sales and use tax processes, including certificates and Vertex systems, is a plus.
- Ability to manage high transaction volumes with accuracy and efficiency.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of financial software and systems is advantageous.
