Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Global Fixed Asset Lead is a highly collaborative role responsible for ensuring the accurate recording, control, and reporting of all fixed assets (FA) and capital expenditure (Cap Ex) activities across the global organization. This individual serves as the central subject matter expert, working closely with individual entity Finance Managers worldwide. The primary focus is on maintaining robust internal controls over the FA life cycle, managing the Capital Appropriation Request (ARA) process, and providing insightful analysis on capital spending against the approved plan.
This position has no direct reports.
BACKGROUND &
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a dedicated focus on Fixed Assets and Capital Expenditure governance
- Deep knowledge of Oracle Fixed Assets and Projects modules is highly desired & SAGE Fixed Assets
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP) related to property, plant, and equipment (PP&E)
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proactive, self-motivated approach to managing global compliance
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups) for analyzing large asset registers
- Experience in a global environment managing complex, multi-currency inter-company processes is required
COMPETENCIES:
I. Fixed Asset Management & Control
- FA Lifecycle Oversight:
Monitor and oversee all aspects of the global fixed asset lifecycle, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals, ensuring compliance with company policy and accounting standards. - Global Policy Governance:
Collaborate with entity Finance Managers to ensure consistent application of capitalization policies, useful lives, tagging procedures and asset grouping across all global locations. - Physical Verification:
Conduct Annual Physical fixed asset verification and coordinate with entities Controllers for other subsidiaries. Ensure process is timely completed, including accurate tagging and reconciliation of findings against the FA ledger. - System Integrity:
Work with local finance teams and IT to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the fixed asset sub-ledger (e.g., in the ERP system).
- Budget Planning:
Partner with FP&A and Operations Leadership during the annual planning cycle to assist in building the Global Capital Budget. - ARA Process Management:
Manage and monitor the entire Capital Appropriation Request (ARA) process from submission to final approval and spending. - Capital Plan Compliance:
Review ARA submissions to ensure that capital spending is in line with the approved Capital plan and in compliance with established company policy. - Analytical Reporting:
Provide monthly analytical reports (Variance Analysis) on actual capital spending versus the approved capital plan, highlighting key variances and forecasting future requirements. Explain significant variances (overruns/underruns) to Senior Management. - Cash Flow Forecasting:
Collaborate with Treasury to provide accurate cash outflow forecasts related to large machinery payments and facility construction milestones.
- Global Partnership:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all fixed asset and Cap Ex matters, providing expert guidance and necessary training to individuals. - Management Reporting:
Provide necessary monthly FA analytical reports and reconcile FA activities with the general ledger. - Audit Support:
Coordinate the compilation of all fixed asset and capital expenditure documentation required for both internal and external audits.
