Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting & Finance

Our client, a private equity–backed organization, is seeking an interim Controller to provide hands‑on leadership during a period of rapid growth and organizational change. Reporting to a senior finance leader who reports to the CFO, you will partner closely to guide and support the finance and accounting team, enhance reporting accuracy, and strengthen internal controls. This is a full‑time onsite consulting role with an immediate start for 6+ months with the potential to extend or convert to direct hire.

Location:

Onsite – Northwest Houston

Pay Rate: $55-65/hour (W2, based on experience)

• Own day‑to‑day corporate controllership activities, including general ledger oversight, month‑end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis.
• Lead external audit support, including managing audit request lists, preparing roll forwards, and updating schedules and reports while coordinating with auditors and internal stakeholders.
• Strengthen and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve accuracy, consistency, and GAAP compliance.
• Drive process improvement and reporting automation using advanced Excel and available systems, developing templates, dashboards, and tools to reduce manual work across teams.
• Provide mentorship and daily guidance to the finance and accounting team, partnering with leadership to prioritize workloads, resolve issues, and support change adoption.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in GAAP, month‑end close, and corporate financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and report automation techniques.
• Experience supporting external audits and working with ERP systems, with Acumatica preferred and Service Now exposure a plus.
