Private Equity Associate; Power

Industry Focus: Power & Energy Infrastructure

Position Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a highly motivated Pre-MBA Private Equity Associate to join our Houston-based investment team. The Associate will focus primarily on investments across the power and energy infrastructure sectors, including generation (conventional and renewable), energy transition, and related infrastructure assets.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong transaction experience in power within investment banking or private equity who are looking to deepen their buy-side experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Evaluate and execute control and minority investments in power and energy infrastructure assets
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, including project finance and operating models
• Conduct industry research and market analysis across power markets (ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, etc.)
• Lead due diligence processes, including coordination with technical, commercial, legal, tax, and financing advisors
• Analyze complex project finance structures and debt arrangements
• Prepare investment memoranda and present findings to the Investment Committee
• Support transaction structuring and negotiation of purchase agreements and financing documents
• Monitor portfolio company performance and assist management teams with strategic initiatives

• 2–4 years of experience in:
• Investment Banking (M&A, Power & Utilities, Energy, or Infrastructure groups), and/or
• Private Equity with meaningful exposure to power generation or infrastructure investments
• Strong experience in power sector transactions (renewables, thermal generation, transmission, storage, or infrastructure assets)
• Advanced financial modeling skills (LBO, project finance, operating models)
• Solid understanding of power markets, regulatory frameworks, and revenue structures (PPAs, merchant exposure, capacity markets, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work streams under tight deadlines
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance

• Direct experience with ERCOT or other U.S. power markets
• Exposure to project finance debt structuring
• Prior private equity investing experience
• Strong interest in long-term career in private equity
