As a Crude Lease Trader
, you’ll operate at the forefront of dynamic energy markets, using your expertise to help shape strategy, support key decisions, and elevate overall commercial performance. - Purchase, sell, and structure energy and derivatives transactions across short‑term and intermediate markets, using a fundamentals‑driven approach to identify value.
- Develop and execute futures, options, swaps, and other pricing strategies that enhance physical positions, manage risk, and capture location and time‑spread opportunities.
- Analyze supply and demand trends, trade flows, macro factors, and market structures to build informed trading views and respond to changing conditions.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with strategic partners while ensuring compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, and defined risk parameters.
- Apply advanced understanding of market dynamics, financial indicators, and trading techniques to solve complex problems and unlock commercial opportunities.
- Partner with physical trading, origination, analytics, and risk teams to align derivatives activity with customer needs and broader commercial strategies.
- Support demand forecasting, pricing strategy, and the development of customer‑focused risk‑management solutions.
- Contribute to business planning by developing business cases, forecasting performance, and evaluating financial implications of key initiatives.
- Help strengthen trading tools, analytics, and processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and decision‑making.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert by staying current on regulation and market best practices, sharing insights, and contributing to team capability development.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
- 3 or more years of experience that enables you to handle most trading situations independently and advise others
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Experience working directly with physical trading, origination, or cross‑commodity commercial teams
- Advanced grasp of market fundamentals, curve dynamics, and derivatives structures
- Demonstrated ability to develop customer‑focused solutions and contribute to commercial strategy
- Familiarity with tools, analytics, or infrastructure used to support trading and risk decision‑making
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, pricing principles, and risk considerations relevant to energy and derivatives markets
- Ability to analyze complex information, make sound commercial decisions, and execute with discipline
- Proven collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the capability to convey ideas clearly and confidently
This position has a base salary range of $171,000 - $209,000. This role is eligible to participate in the company’s commercial bonus program, offering the opportunity to earn additional compensation based on business and individual performance, in accordance with program guidelines. At Phillips 66, we are committed to pay transparency and competitive, equitable compensation. Each role is assigned a salary grade with a defined pay range, benchmarked against industry peers.
