At PwC, our tax services team focuses on advising clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. In the State and Local Indirect Tax (SALT) practice, you will concentrate on value-added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), sales tax, and other indirect taxes. Your work will involve providing expert guidance on indirect tax planning, compliance, and strategy, helping businesses navigate complex regulations and optimise their tax positions.
SummaryAs a Manager you will lead technology-enabled tax advisory initiatives, supervise and coach teams, manage client service accounts, and independently solve complex problems to deliver top-quality deliverables. You will cultivate meaningful client relationships, inspire your team, navigate ambiguity, uphold PwC’s quality standards, and contribute to the firm’s purpose, principles, and broader business strategies. Effective leadership includes coaching, leveraging team strengths, mentoring, and maintaining professional and technical standards.
Responsibilities- Lead technology-enabled tax advisory work streams.
- Supervise, develop, and coach teams.
- Manage client service accounts and drive engagement delivery.
- Analyze and solve complex indirect tax problems to produce exceptional deliverables.
- Build and maintain client relationships.
- Inspire team members and navigate ambiguity.
- Uphold PwC’s quality standards and firm values.
- Contribute to business strategies and broader firm initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- CPA, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance credentials may qualify.
- Juris Doctorate in Taxation (preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of state and local tax laws.
- Proficiency in tax planning and restructuring.
- Experience in audit defense and state controversy work.
- Familiarity with sales and use tax implications on FAS 5.
- Proficiency in tax compliance automation tools.
- Client relationship‑management skills.
- Proven leadership in supervising and coaching teams.
- Knowledge of automation and digitisation in tax services.
Up to 20% travel.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $99,000 – $266,000, depending on skills, experience, qualifications and location. Successful candidates receive an annual discretionary bonus.
