Essential Duties Tax Services
  • Provide high‑quality individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and business tax compliance services, as well as estate planning advisory services.
  • Develop and implement tax‑planning strategies aligned with client goals and objectives, coordinating with advisors to integrate tax considerations into financial plans and investment strategies.
  • Review individual, trust, estate, gift, business entity, and foundation returns.
  • Handle federal and state tax notices and audits.
  • Review and analyze estate‑planning related legal documents.
  • Research federal, state and international tax laws, prepare tax memoranda on technical topics, and develop tax‑savings strategies.
  • Proactively stay current on new tax legislation and tax reform.
  • Apply specific knowledge of oil & gas sector compliance (depletion and depreciation calculations, cost and percentage methods).
  • Account for oil & gas industry deductions such as dry‑hole costs and IDC.
  • Calculate AMT adjustments specific to the oil & gas sector.
Business Development
  • Manage all aspects of client accounts with respect to tax, fostering client relationships, overseeing processes, and answering questions.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert, resource, and point of contact for clients’ broader advisory team, including wealth advisors, financial planners, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct internal business development and marketing, including networking, public speaking, and authoring income‑tax‑planning and trust & estate related articles.
  • Provide internal training and guidance on tax‑related topics.
  • Manage group members, monitor workloads, and provide training and assistance.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting (or JD, MS in Tax) from an accredited college/university.
  • Active CPA, EA, or state bar license (eligible to be listed on POAs).
  • At least 6 years of progressive public‑accounting experience.
  • Extensive experience in tax advisory and gift/estate/trust planning and compliance for sophisticated high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals and families.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience reviewing individual, fiduciary, gift tax returns required; partnership and S‑corporation preferred.
  • Preferred experience with CCH Axcess Tax and Bloomberg Income Tax Planner (formerly BNA).
  • Experience with research software and memo writing.
  • Willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed to meet client deliverables.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in an office environment requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Position requires onsite presence four days per week.
U.S. Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Corient hires U.S. citizens or permanent residents; proof of work authorization required.
  • Must be willing to execute Corient’s Employee Agreement or Confidentiality and Non‑Disclosure Agreement.
