Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid - 2 Days In Office / 3 Days Remote)
Overview
A growing organization is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Manager to lead financial reporting activities and oversee the integrity of the corporate general ledger.
This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative and agile accounting team where you will play a highly visible role in both strategic reporting initiatives and hands-on accounting operations. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting expertise with operational execution and continuous process improvement.
In this role, you'll help drive accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, support audit activities, and contribute to scalable accounting processes that support the organization's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare and review financial statement footnotes and audit disclosures
- Coordinate and manage the external audit process, including preparation of supporting schedules and auditor collaboration
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide insights to leadership
- Drive improvements in reporting processes, accuracy, and efficiency
- Oversee the structure, maintenance, and integrity of the corporate general ledger and chart of accounts
- Lead and actively participate in the monthly and year-end close process
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate recording and classification of transactions
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency
- Support accounting systems enhancements and reporting optimization initiatives
- Supervise and mentor one direct report, providing ongoing coaching and development
- Partner with internal stakeholders across departments to support financial reporting objectives
- Contribute to special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed
- Master's degree in Accounting required
- Active CPA certification required
- 6+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical capabilities
- Proven experience managing financial close and reporting cycles in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and integrity
- Experience with Net Suite ERP
- Familiarity with internal control environments within privately held organizations
- Experience improving reporting processes, documentation, and accounting workflows
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- A hands-on accounting leader who thrives in both strategic and operational responsibilities
