Risk Manager/Analyst, Financial Compliance
Senior Consumer Underwriter – Quality underwriting for Consumer Loans, HELOC, and Home Equity loan applications. Responsible for reviewing complex loan situations, guiding lower-level underwriters, preventing fraud, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and Credit Union policies.
Responsibilities- Review incoming Consumer, Home Equity, and HELOC loan applications to evaluate debt-to-income ratio, analyze credit reports, calculate income, and determine loan-to-value ratios, making timely and prudent loan decisions within established guidelines.
- Provide guidance to Consumer, Mortgage, and Closing Specialists in structuring challenging loans and offer concurrence for additional approval authority.
- Review and verify income documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to Credit Union guidelines, and protect the credit union from fraud.
- Validate all data entered into the loan submission and Encompass/Loan Director loan origination systems; review disputed consumer loan applications from branch and sales staff.
- Manage e‑Oscar direct and indirect consumer credit disputes, conducting in‑depth investigations through core systems and historical data to validate disputed credit information in accordance with CFPB guidelines.
- Execute other duties as assigned.
- Three to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
- A high school degree or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills: trust, credibility, diplomacy, effective communication, and the ability to motivate, influence, educate, and advise others on significant matters.
- Proficiency in evaluating personal credit reports, familiar with different types of collateral, and calculating financial ratios for underwriting analysis.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as experience with Velocity and Fiserv DNA/Core System.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to bend, sit, and stand; to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion; occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.; to climb/descend stairs in emergencies; to operate routine office equipment; to work extended hours or travel off site if required; and reliable attendance.
