Position: FINANCIAL ANALYST III (HRFAM-FA&R)

Position Overview

Financial Analyst III – Financial & Accounting Management. Reporting: 611 WALKER ST, Workdays &

Hours:

Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (subject to change).

Job Summary

In this role, you’ll deliver clear financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting that keep operations running smoothly, spot trends early, flag risks, and help leaders stay aligned and informed.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze financial and operational data to support decisions
  • Build forecasts using trends and expenditure patterns
  • Deliver monthly budget reports with clear variance insights
  • Develop financial models and maintain data accuracy
  • Create dashboards and presentations that communicate results clearly
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand drivers and share insights
  • Monitor performance metrics and update reports regularly
  • Analyze workers’ compensation and long‑term disability claim costs, trends, reserves, and payment activity to identify financial impacts and cost drivers
  • Monitor and reconcile workers’ compensation and long‑term disability expenditures, invoices, recoveries, and budget allocations
  • Prepare financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and presentations related to workers’ compensation and long‑term disability programs performance
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of annual workers’ compensation and long‑term disability budgets and projections
  • Collaborate with third‑party administrators (TPAs), HR Occupational Risk Management Division, actuaries, and legal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
  • Prepare and maintain financial documentation, reconciliation schedules, and supporting records for internal and external audits
  • Analyze and allocate workers’ compensation and long‑term disability costs across departments
  • Assist with actuarial data collection, loss run analysis, and forecasting
  • Monitor vendor contracts, service fees, and performance metrics for workers’ compensation‑related services
Working Conditions

Position is physically comfortable. The individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. No major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field
  • Experience: Three years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related area
  • Substitutions: Experience cannot substitute the bachelor’s degree requirement. A master’s degree may substitute for two years of the above experience
  • License Requirements: None
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation and long‑term disability financial reporting practices
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation skills
  • Experience with claims management systems, ERP systems, and advanced Excel functions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1‑6
Selection / Skills Tests Required

The department may administer a skills assessment test.

Salary Information

Pay grade: 21.
