Optimus is partnering with a leading energy company seeking a Market Risk Analyst to support their dynamic trading and risk management team. If you have experience in the commodity energy markets (power, gas, gasoline, crude, biofuel, feed stocks), strong analytical skills, and experience with risk modeling or P&L reporting, this could be the role for you!

• Work closely with traders, schedulers, and risk teams to assess exposure and monitor market risk.
• Develop and enhance risk models, P&L reports, and analytical tools to improve decision-making.
• Gain hands-on experience with ETRM systems, market data analytics, and valuation techniques in power and gas trading.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Daily risk reporting – Track market exposure, mark-to-market P&L, and ensure compliance with risk limits.
• Risk modeling & analytics – Assist in developing risk models and analyzing trade valuations.
• Market monitoring – Provide insights into portfolio performance, market movements, and trading strategies.
• Process optimization – Automate reporting, streamline workflows, and collaborate with IT to enhance risk systems.

What You Bring to the Table:

• 2-10 years in market risk and trading analytics in a commodity trading environment.
• Experience with ETRM systems (Right Angle, Endur, or similar) and data analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, Python, VBA, R).
• Strong understanding of energy markets, financial instruments, and risk controls.
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex data and present insights clearly.
