The role involves varied and unpredictable projects that require on‑the‑spot problem solving and challenging existing practices to develop answers to complex issues. You will collaborate with audit and advisory colleagues across multiple service lines, building relationships and identifying opportunities for clients to benefit from our collective knowledge. Regular travel will be required to meet with key clients, many of whom are the most respected in their fields.

Required qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, finance, information technology, accounting or related field and at least 8 years of work experience.
  • US CPA licensure in your work state.
  • Direct experience with commodity procurement, trading or valuation processes from an operational perspective, with a focus on middle‑ and back‑office operations.
  • Experience with accounting for derivative and hedging activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of commodity markets, instruments, and regulatory pronouncements.
  • A basic understanding of financial modeling for commodity, particularly energy, transactions.
  • A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a team of high‑performing colleagues.
  • The confidence to provide expertise in deal structuring, valuation, and market drivers in the energy markets.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended.
Preferred qualifications
  • A master’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics or related discipline.
  • Internal or External Audit experience in a large firm.
Benefits
  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $146,700 to $335,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $176,000 to $380,800.

    Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Hybrid work model: most people in external, client‑serving roles are expected to work together in person 40‑60% of the time.
  • Flexible vacation policy allows you to decide how much vacation time you need based on your personal circumstances. You will also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, winter/summer breaks, personal/family care, and other leaves of absence when needed.
