We are partnering with a growing and well-established lending organization in Houston to identify an experienced Senior Loan Servicing professional with a strong background in both performing loan servicing and special asset management, including foreclosure processes and private/hard money lending. This is a high-impact, on-site role supporting complex residential and commercial loan portfolios. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of loan documentation, legal processes, lien positions, and title matters, along with the ability to manage servicing issues with precision, professionalism, and a high degree of accountability.

Position Overview

The Senior Loan Servicing & Special Assets Coordinator is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of loan servicing, from high-performing assets to distressed loans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimal portfolio performance. This position is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional with a background in paralegal work, title, escrow, or real estate transactions who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day loan servicing activities for a portfolio of hard money business purpose real estate loans, including performing and non-performing assets
  • Oversee payment processing, account maintenance, borrower inquiries, and relationship management to ensure high-quality servicing of performing loans
  • Monitor loan performance and proactively address delinquencies, risk trends, and borrower issues
  • Review and interpret loan documents, legal agreements, and closing/title documentation to ensure accuracy and enforce ability
  • Handle loan modifications, extensions, payoffs, assumptions, and servicing transfers in accordance with company and investor guidelines
  • Research and resolve title issues, lien releases, and collateral documentation discrepancies
  • Administer and reconcile tax and insurance impound (escrow) accounts, ensuring timely payments and accurate tracking
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of loan records, payment histories, escrow balances, and servicing data, primarily within The Mortgage Office (TMO) platform
  • Execute and manage collections efforts, including borrower outreach, payment plans, and resolution strategies
  • Manage special assets, including delinquent, non-performing, and defaulted loans
  • Support and coordinate default servicing activities, including foreclosure processes, legal actions, and third-party vendor management
  • Collaborate with borrowers, attorneys, title companies, trustees, and internal teams to resolve issues and facilitate transactions
  • Review, interpret, and assist in the creation and modification of real estate loan documents, including notes, deeds of trust, forbearance agreements, and settlement documents
  • Ensure compliance with servicing guidelines, investor requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation requests, including investor and internal reviews
  • Generate reporting and provide insights into portfolio performance, including both performing and distressed assets
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in loan servicing, including management of both performing and non-performing loans
  • Demonstrated experience with special assets, collections, and foreclosure processes
  • Strong working knowledge of The Mortgage Office (TMO) or similar servicing platforms
  • Experience with tax and insurance escrow/impound administration and reconciliation
  • Solid understanding of real estate legal documentation, including loan, title, and collateral documents
  • Experience in private lending, bridge lending, or hard money lending environments
  • Knowledge of foreclosure laws and procedures (state-specific experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred
  • Experience managing a mixed portfolio of performing and distressed loans
  • Background in loan restructuring, asset recovery, and borrower workout strategies
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial lending environment
