Closing Specialist I - In Office / Paramus, NJ or Houston, TX
We are seeking a Closing Specialist I to prepare loan‑closing documents and ensure accuracy and compliance for mortgage loans.
Responsibilities- Pre-Closing review of all documents in file including title, homeowner’s insurance, appraisal, condo documentation, tax certs, trust documents, payoffs, and disclosures.
- Complete a pre‑closing checklist to ensure file is complete and compliant.
- Coordinate scheduled signing with partners, loan officers, settlement agents and/or title companies.
- Prepare all closing documents required to close mortgage loans, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate; follow up with any discrepancies.
- Audit closing documents and file based on audit procedures.
- Prepare and explain closing requirements to settlement agent as needed.
- Perform client, settlement agent, processor, or client relations follow‑up as needed.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving documents to loan advisors, settlement agents, and wholesale partners, as needed.
- Establish and maintain a thorough knowledge of all products and investor requirements to ensure quality closing packages and salability to the investor.
- Prepare and complete loan documents, ensuring all necessary paperwork is complete, and coordinating the closing process.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines, with basic or limited decision‑making authority.
- Work directly with title companies, partners and other third parties to coordinate closings.
- Minimum of 2 years as a Closer or Funder preferred.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Excellent organizing and coordinating skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain files and records.
- Proficiency with personal computers and related software applications, specifically Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Strong customer service skills and reliability.
- Extremely detailed oriented and able to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
- Team player who shows a positive attitude and collaborative skills.
- Exhibits reliability and punctuality.

Target base salary range is 55–65K, based on various factors including skills and work experience. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program via monthly production bonus that is based on individual performance.
