, you won’t just manage financial operations—you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the integrity, transparency, and stewardship of resources that directly support animal welfare.

We’re seeking a hands-on, values-driven finance leader who thrives in a mission-based environment, builds strong teams, and takes ownership of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

You’ll be most successful in this role if you naturally:

• Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, AP, payroll review, reconciliations, and reporting
• Ensure accuracy across financial records, donor-restricted funds, and investment tracking
• Maintain and continuously improve month-end, year-end, and audit processes

• Serve as a steward of organizational resources with a strong ethical foundation
• Establish and enforce internal controls and proper segregation of duties
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit standards, and regulatory requirements
• Partner with HR, Development, and leadership to ensure financial alignment
• Communicate financial insights clearly to executives and Board stakeholders
• Build strong relationships across departments as a trusted advisor

• Manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering growth and accountability
• Create a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and support

We’re looking for someone who consistently demonstrates:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience (management level preferred)
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency
• Experience with financial systems (Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus; Paychex a plus)
