Our client, a global organization with a complex multi-jurisdictional payroll environment, is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to join its payroll team. This role will play a key part in ensuring payroll tax compliance, supporting tax-related processes, and partnering with payroll and HR technology teams to maintain accuracy across domestic and international payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian payroll tax regulations.
- Maintain and update payroll tax jurisdictions to support accurate withholding, reporting, and remittance requirements.
- Perform payroll tax reconciliations, research variances, and drive issue resolution.
- Support quarterly and annual payroll tax activities, including year-end reporting and validation of tax documents.
- Assist with payroll tax filings and help ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Partner with payroll, HRIS, and technology teams to validate tax setup and system configurations.
- Investigate tax-related issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support responses to payroll tax notices, audits, and agency inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to maintain payroll tax accuracy and compliance.
- Provide payroll tax expertise and guidance across the organization.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives within payroll.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of payroll experience with a strong concentration in payroll tax.
- Deep understanding of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting Canadian payroll tax reporting and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax calculations, filings, and reconciliation processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile large datasets.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience with enterprise payroll platforms such as UKG, SAP, Workday, ADP, or similar systems.
- Hands-on involvement with year-end payroll processing and tax reporting activities.
- Experience working with payroll vendors and third-party tax providers.
Process improvement, project management, or systems implementation experience.
- Limited travel requirements (approximately 10%).
