We are seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to take ownership of payroll tax operations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions while supporting a major ERP transformation initiative. This role offers significant visibility across Payroll, HR, Accounting, Tax, Legal, and Audit functions and provides the opportunity to influence processes, systems, and compliance strategy.
What You'll Do Payroll Tax Compliance & Governance- Lead all U.S. payroll tax activities, including federal, state, and local filings (941, 940, W-2, W-3)
- Manage quarterly and year-end tax processes, amendments, and corrections
- Ensure compliance across multi-state and multi-jurisdictional payroll environments
- Reconcile payroll tax balances and support general ledger alignment
- Manage tax notices, audits, and agency correspondence
- Utilize ADP Smart Compliance to support tax reporting and compliance activities
- Serve as the primary payroll tax resource for the organization
- Provide guidance on complex tax matters, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements
- Support employee tax inquiries, multi-state taxation, expatriate taxation, and gross-up calculations
- Act as the payroll tax SME for ERP implementation and enhancement projects
- Define payroll tax requirements and support system configuration, testing, and validation
- Partner with project teams to ensure compliant payroll tax processes within new platforms
- Identify opportunities to improve controls, streamline processes, and enhance documentation
- Train and mentor payroll team members on payroll tax processes and compliance requirements
- Develop standard operating procedures and training materials
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Audit, and external service providers to support organizational objectives
- 7+ years of payroll tax, payroll, or related experience
- Strong expertise in multi-state and multi-jurisdictional payroll tax compliance
- Hands-on experience preparing and filing Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-3, and state/local tax filings
- Experience working within People Soft, Oracle, or similar ERP environments
- Knowledge of payroll tax reconciliations, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to interpret complex tax regulations and communicate effectively across teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
