Trading & Supply Products Trader
The purpose of the Trading & Supply Products business is to maximize sustained value creation in oil products markets with effective management of HSSE performance and the necessary controls for regulated business activities, in support of overarching Downstream objectives of material cash generation and high return on capital.
The scope of the Trading and Supply (T&S) business encompasses all activities globally from lifting fuel components/products from equity refining and purchasing fuel components/products from third parties, to delivering finished products to branded Marketing businesses and selling fuel products/components to counter parties, including global proprietary trading of fuels components/products.
You will primarily be responsible for trading Middle Distillates across the Americas and will be part of the Global Middle Distillates desk. In addition, as a trader on the desk, you will work closely with both local and global teams to formulate and execute trading strategies for the products under your responsibility.
Grow and manage the Americas Middle Distillate business, contributing to the Global Middle Distillates trading group and broader group targets through added-value and integrative activities
Manage a portfolio/trading book and take accountability for P&L of defined area. Trade physical and financial products typically for a single commodity/ geographic region
Maintain the overview of the risk position for the relevant book and coordinate with mid-office to resolve any issues
Take full accountability for the profitability of a deal throughout the life of the deal
Improve and optimize existing supply flows and devise or implement new value propositions
Gather and share valuable market and competitive intelligence across product groups and locations
Work closely with the internal regional stakeholders on supply and sourcing strategies
Manage the details of complex price exposure correctly and skilfully
Drive Short-/Medium-Term Business Development (BD) Agenda, working alongside the business development/origination teams
The candidate must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience required
At least 3 years of physical oil trading experience, with proven record of P&L ownership and confidence to perform
Ability to develop fundamentally based trading strategies as well as technical trading strategies to increase value generation on multiple levels
Consistently demonstrated strong commercial acumen and astute focus on bottom-line profitability, inquisitive, with the ability to analyze and drill into details
Highly numerate with good analytical capacities and have a healthy appetite for risk
Creative in identifying, assessing and delivering opportunities
Collaborative and team player
Ability to develop strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, effective communication skills to influence with all levels in the organization and across cultures
Proven track record in interacting and managing customers and other stakeholders with strong outcomes in negotiating, concluding and operating deals and partnerships
Excellent understanding of price exposure management
An independent, self-starter attitude, strong work ethos and professional maturity are necessary to succeed in this role
Strong desire to develop their career in a fast-paced and evolving commercial environment
The base salary range for this position is $184,000 - $276,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
