Houston, Texas office – On‑site location at 8588 Katy Fwy. This Sr Tax Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive tax advice, planning, and return preparation services to clients. The role is integral to the financial well‑being and satisfaction of both clients and Wealth Enhancement Group (WEG) Financial Advisors.
CompensationBase salary range: $90,000 – $100,000 exclusive of bonuses and benefits.
Primary Job Functions- Tax Preparation and Compliance – Prepare individual, partnership, S‑Corporation, C‑Corporation, trust, estate, foundation, payroll, sales tax, and foreign reporting tax returns, including all related documentation.
- Prepare tax projections for Financial Advisors and clients.
- Provide comprehensive tax planning advice to Financial Advisors and clients.
- Maintain fluency in all aspects of tax compliance.
- Conduct tax research and planning using tools such as CCH Intelliconnect and BNA projections; participate in special research projects and retirement account recommendations.
- Respond to and work with state and federal auditors, as needed.
- Amend tax returns as appropriate.
- Review and respond to tax notices.
- Process Improvement and Revenue Growth – Identify and implement improvements to processes, systems, and communications to enhance team effectiveness and responsiveness.
- Participate in ad‑hoc meetings to support tax initiatives for Financial Advisor teams.
- Identify additional opportunities to increase value delivered to clients and support revenue growth for Wealth Enhancement Tax & Consulting Services (WETCS) and Financial Advisor teams.
- Promote WETCS service offerings to assigned tax clients when appropriate.
- Team Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing – Build and maintain productive relationships with Financial Advisor teams and clients.
- Serve as a subject‑matter partner to internal support teams.
- Develop and implement training plans for non‑tax staff as needed.
- Train new staff on company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance team effectiveness and satisfaction.
- Share expertise by answering tax‑related questions and acting as a subject‑matter expert for Financial Advisor teams and other WEG employees.
- Maintain fluency in relevant tax software and procedures.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
- Participate in off‑site tax meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years in financial services.
- Minimum of 7 years of public accounting experience, with a focus on tax accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years as a CPA or Enrolled Agent (required).
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop team and client relationships.
- Strong attention to detail and process orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Pro Systems Access Tax, Pro Systems Access Scan, and related Pro Systems products (preferred).
- Familiarity with Salesforce and supporting organization functionality.
- Experience with Workday (preferred).
