Tax Manager
Teal Energi is partnered with a well-established company in the oil & gas industry that is seeking a Tax Manager to oversee both direct and indirect tax functions across multiple entities. This position plays a critical role within the finance organization, leading compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives while partnering closely with internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities, drive process improvements, and provide leadership within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance for multiple legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timely filings
- Manage indirect tax activities such as sales & use tax, excise tax, and other applicable non-income taxes
- Drive tax planning initiatives, including forecasting taxable income, evaluating NOL utilization, and assessing regulatory impacts
- Coordinate and administer intercompany tax arrangements within a consolidated reporting structure
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and documentation in alignment with SOX requirements
- Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes, improve reporting, and implement system enhancements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external advisors, auditors, and cross-functional finance teams
- Support the implementation and optimization of tax-related software solutions
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, fostering technical growth and development
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential implications for the organization
- Contribute to additional projects and responsibilities as needed
- Strong experience in U.S. federal and state income tax provision and compliance
- Working knowledge of IFRS tax accounting standards
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities independently
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and cultures
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience, including a mix of industry and/or public accounting
- At least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- CPA or CPA in process with parts passed
