AVP & Actuary, Annuity Analytics is a senior actuarial leadership role responsible for driving enterprise-level annuity analytics, valuation support, and earnings analysis. This position plays a critical role in transforming complex actuarial and financial data into clear, actionable insights that support business performance, projections, and strategic decision-making across the annuity business.
Location:
Houston, TX (onsite).
- Provide on-demand actuarial and financial analysis to support ad hoc requests that span across the actuarial organization.
- Rapidly ramp up on unfamiliar problem sets and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal direction.
- Apply fundamental actuarial principles in analyzing company and industry data to prepare actuarial analyses.
- Provide leadership, prioritizing the most impactful actions focused on meeting our financial targets.
- Collaborate with leadership by effectively interacting, being open to opinions and feedback, and challenging and debating when necessary.
- Develop comprehensive methodologies that balance growth, retention, and profitability.
- Prepare and present summaries and recommendations of actuarial analyses for distribution to senior management, other American National departments, reinsurers, and regulators.
- Effectively communicate the results of actuarial analyses to all levels of the organization and to interested outside parties.
- Complete processes and improve methods for performing and documenting actuarial analyses promptly and accurately.
- Support and train less experienced analysts with actuarial techniques, spreadsheets, databases, and sources of data used in actuarial analyses.
- Support projects across:
- Pricing
- VM‑22 / Regulatory initiatives
- M&A due diligence and integration support
- Translate business questions into structured actuarial analyses and clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related field.
- 10-12 years of related experience.
- Experience leading and managing a team.
- Strong technical actuarial background with hands‑on experience in modeling, analytics, or financial analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple actuarial disciplines (e.g., pricing, valuation, ALM, reporting).
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis techniques, including some experience coding in Python or R.
Base pay is determined by a variety of factors, including training, transferable skills, relevant experience, business needs, and market conditions. Compensation is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
