We are working exclusively with a globally respected hedgefund to hire a Natural Gas Analyst/Trader into a high-conviction, open-mandate research team. This is a rare seat: the firm wants someone who thinks fundamentally about natural gas markets and is energised by the challenge of marrying that expertise with a world-class quanta mental trading operation.
You won't be handed a playbook. The mandate is deliberately open , your job is to identify where fundamental analysis can add edge to existing systematic strategies, and build from there. The RoleWorking alongside the firm's quant trading team, you will:
Research and model natural gas fundamentals , supply/demand dynamics, storage, weather sensitivity, LNG flows, pipeline constraints, and macro overlays – Identify and develop strategies that incorporate fundamental views into live trading — working across physical and financial gas markets – Collaborate closely with quantitative researchers to fuse discretionary insight with systematic execution – Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the team's approach to commodities, with scope to expand into adjacent energy markets over time
– 2+ years of professional experience analysing natural gas fundamentals – Strong grasp of physical and/or financial gas markets – Sharp analytical mind — comfortable with data, rigorous in your thinking – Solid statistical grounding – Coding skills a plus – Collaborative by nature
